Japón pretende verter las aguas residuales de la catastrofe de Fukushima al mar, al haberse convertido en u problema de almacenamiento en los tanques provisionales existentes, aún garantizando la máxima eliminación de los residuos radioactivos procedentes de los vertidos de la central nuclear afectada por el tsunami que destruyo dicha central de todos es sabido que la eliminación total es casi imposible, lo que implica el vertido radioactivo en las aguas del mar. El accidente fue provocado por el terremoto y tsunami de Tohoku el 11 de marzo de 2011, hasta la fecha las aguas procedentes de los residuos de la central así como las de enfriamiento de los reactores estabam almacenadas en tanques al efecto en las proximidades de la zona afectada.
